Overview

ArtSites is being built in the open, and we want to be straight with you about where we are. You may have noticed a small badge in the top of your dashboard or editor that says Preview. This article explains what it means, what to expect, and what to do to keep your work safe while we build.

The short version: during the preview, everything on ArtSites may be wiped at any time, without notice. Keep your own copies of anything that matters to you, and a real person is on the other end of the Feedback tab and the Support button if anything feels wrong.

What does Preview mean?

If your badge says Preview, ArtSites is still being built. Most things work. Some things do not yet, and a few things will change as we learn what artists actually need.

While we are in preview we may wipe everything and start again, at any time and without notice: accounts, profiles, websites, and everything uploaded. We do this so we can fix the foundations properly instead of working around them. If that happens you can sign up again and rebuild, but we will not be able to bring anything back for you.

That changes when ArtSites moves to its permanent home. From that point we keep your data the way any live service should: backed up, recoverable, and never deliberately reset. We will announce the move by email, and the badge will tell you where things stand in the meantime.

What you should do

A few simple habits will keep your mind at ease while we are in preview:

• Keep your own copies of everything. Your high-resolution images, your artwork details, and any text you write should always live somewhere you control: a folder on your computer, a backup drive, or cloud storage. Treat ArtSites as a place to try things out, not as the home of your work.
• Share your ArtSites address only with people who understand it is a preview. A page you share today might change, break, or vanish tomorrow, and the address itself is a preview address that will change when ArtSites moves to its permanent home. Please do not print the address on cards or point collectors there yet.
• Tell us when something feels wrong. If you spot a bug, or something does not behave the way you expect, please reach out. Reports from artists at this stage genuinely shape what we build next.

None of this is meant to put you off. We are excited that you are here this early. We just want you to be here with your eyes open.
