Overview
The artist directory helps visitors discover artists on the ArtSites platform. Once your profile is eligible and you say yes, you appear in the directory alongside other artists.
Listing Requirements
You become eligible for the artist directory once you meet all of the following:
- Email verified: confirm your email address during sign-up or from your profile settings
- 5 or more artworks: upload at least five works to your portfolio
- Content review: your profile passes a brief content review to ensure it meets community standards
Meeting these conditions makes you eligible, not listed. We will let you know when you are eligible and ask whether you would like a directory entry. Your profile only appears in the directory once you say yes, and you can change your answer at any time. Choosing not to be listed does not affect anything else about your profile, portfolio, or Custom URL.
What Your Directory Listing Shows
Your directory entry includes:
- Display name: the name you set in your profile
- Tagline: a short description of you or your practice
- Thumbnail: an image representing your work
- Link: a direct link to your website
Keep your profile up to date so visitors get an accurate first impression.
Choosing a Custom URL
By default, your directory profile is available at a system-generated URL. Once your email is verified, you can choose a custom URL to make it easier to share, for example sites.art/yourname. It takes effect right away; there's nothing to request and no waiting on us.
- Go to Settings in your dashboard
- Select Custom URL
- Enter your preferred URL
- Save it
Custom URLs are subject to availability. When you change yours, your old URL redirects to the new one.
The 90-Day Cooldown
After changing your custom URL, there is a 90-day cooldown before you can change it again. This prevents frequent changes that could break links others have shared. Choose a URL you're happy with for the long term.
Improving Your Directory Listing
To make your listing stand out:
- Write a clear, specific tagline that describes your artistic focus
- Choose a strong thumbnail that represents your best work
- Keep your portfolio current with recent artwork
- Complete all profile fields including bio and social links
