Overview

ArtSites supports hierarchical collections, allowing you to create sub-collections under parent collections. This is useful for organising large bodies of work into logical groupings.

How It Works

Collections can have a parent-child relationship:

• A parent collection acts as a category or series heading
• Sub-collections sit underneath, each containing their own artwork

For example:

• Landscapes (parent)
  • Mountain Series (sub-collection)
  • Coastal Work (sub-collection)
  • Urban Scenes (sub-collection)

Creating Sub-Collections

1. Go to Collections in your dashboard
2. Click New Collection
3. Enter the collection name
4. In the Parent dropdown, select an existing collection
5. Click Create

The sub-collection now appears nested under its parent in your gallery menu.

Menu Structure

Sub-collections affect how your gallery is browsed:

• The gallery index page shows top-level (parent) collections
• Clicking a parent collection reveals its sub-collections
• Each sub-collection displays its own artwork grid

Tips

• Use hierarchy to avoid overwhelming visitors with a flat list of many collections
• Keep the hierarchy shallow: one level of nesting is usually sufficient
• Parent collections can contain their own artwork in addition to sub-collections
• You can move a collection under a different parent at any time
