Overview
When your group website uses juried submissions, artwork waits in the submission pool for your review. This article walks through the review process.
Accessing the Submission Pool
Go to Submissions in the admin dashboard. You see all artwork waiting for review, with the most recent submissions first. A badge on the Submissions menu item shows the count of pending items.
Browsing Submitted Artwork
The submission pool displays artwork as a thumbnail grid. Each item shows:
- The artwork image
- The title and artist name
- When it was submitted
Click on any artwork to see the full details, including description, dimensions, medium, and any other metadata the artist provided.
Filtering by Member
If you want to review one artist's submissions at a time, use the member filter:
- Click the Filter control at the top of the submission list.
- Select an artist from the dropdown.
- The list updates to show only that artist's submissions.
Clear the filter to return to the full list.
Accepting Submissions
To accept artwork and add it to your website:
- Select one or more artworks in the submission pool.
- Click Accept.
- Choose which collection to add the artwork to (or accept into the general pool).
Accepted artwork appears on the website immediately. The artist receives a notification that their work has been accepted.
Rejecting Submissions
If artwork does not fit your website's direction:
- Select the artwork in the submission pool.
- Click Reject.
- Optionally enter a reason for the rejection. This is sent to the artist and helps them understand your curation standards.
- Confirm the rejection.
Rejected artwork is returned to the artist. They can revise and resubmit if they choose.
What the Artist Sees
Artists are notified about the outcome of their submissions:
- Accepted: They receive a notification that their artwork is now on the website, with a link to view it.
- Rejected: They receive a notification with your reason (if you provided one). The artwork remains in their personal account and they can submit it again or withdraw it.
Keeping communication clear and respectful helps maintain a positive relationship with your members.
