Overview
The media library is where all your uploaded images live. It serves as a central repository that you can draw from when adding images to artwork, pages, sections, blog posts, and more.
Accessing the Media Library
The media library appears whenever you need to choose an image:
- When adding images to artwork
- When selecting a cover image for a blog post or event
- When adding an image section to a page
- When setting your profile image or logo
Using the Media Picker
When the media picker opens, you can:
- Browse existing images: Scroll through your uploaded media
- Upload new images: Drag and drop or click to upload directly from the picker
- Search: Filter by filename or alt text to find specific images
- Select: Click an image to choose it
Alt Text and Captions
For accessibility and SEO, you can add metadata to your media:
- Alt text: A text description of the image for screen readers and search engines
- Caption: An optional caption displayed below the image when used in content sections
Deleting Media
When you delete a media file, ArtSites warns you if it's currently being used anywhere on your website. Remove the image from those locations first, or the references will break.
Tips
- Add descriptive alt text to all your images: it helps with accessibility and search engine visibility
- Reuse images from the library instead of uploading duplicates
- On mobile, you can upload directly from your camera through the media picker
