Overview
You can request to delete your ArtSites account and all associated data. This starts a 30-day grace period. Nothing is removed straight away: your website comes offline right away, but your artwork, writing and settings are kept safe the whole time. You, or anyone else attached to your profile, can stop the deletion on any of those 30 days and everything comes back exactly as it was. After day 30, the deletion completes and cannot be undone.
What Gets Deleted
Once the 30 days are up and deletion completes:
- Your artwork and uploaded media files
- Your profile details and your login access
Your website goes offline as soon as you start the deletion, and stays offline. It, along with your blog posts, events and any custom domain connection, stops working once the account is gone and does not come back.
A record of your profile is kept in a limited form, with your personal details removed, so that things like your order history elsewhere on ArtSites keep working. Your account itself cannot be recovered after day 30.
Before You Delete
- Download your images: Save copies of any artwork images you want to keep
- Export descriptions: Copy any artwork descriptions, blog posts, or other text content you want to preserve
- Remove custom domains: Update DNS records for any custom domains pointed at ArtSites
How To Request Deletion
- In your dashboard menu, open the Account group
- Click Plan
- Scroll to Leave ArtSites and click Leave ArtSites...
- Type your Custom URL to confirm, tick the box, and confirm
If you don't see this option, contact support and a person will help you.
Tips
- Deletion is not permanent until day 30. Anyone attached to your profile can click Stop this and bring everything back on the Plan page, on any day before then, and nothing is lost
- If you want to step back without deleting anything, the Plan page also offers Move to Basic (keeps your website's content but takes it offline, while you stay listed as an artist) and Go offline (takes your website and your public profile offline together). Both are reversible any time, and neither starts a countdown
- Moving to Basic keeps your content exactly as it is. We don't use the word "downgrade" here: it's a plan change, not a step down
