Overview
"Cancel" can mean four different things, and they have very different outcomes. All four live in one place: Plan, in the Account group of your dashboard menu. Each one says what it does before you confirm it.
The four choices
Move to Basic. Stop paying, keep your artist profile. Your website is put away with everything on it kept, exactly as you left it. Your artist profile, your Custom URL, your directory entry, and the works shown on them carry on unchanged. This is what most artists mean when they say "cancel my subscription".
Go offline. Nothing of yours is public: your website and your artist profile both come down together. Your artwork, writing, and settings are all kept. One step brings you back to where you were.
Leave ArtSites. Ends your account. You have 30 days to change your mind, and anyone attached to your profile can stop it on any of those days. After day 30 it cannot be undone, so take a copy of your work with you first.
Change only how you pay. If you want to update your card, read your invoices, or switch between monthly and annual, that is on your Billing page rather than Plan. Your plan itself does not change.
What happens to your web address
If you have a web address registered through us and you choose Leave ArtSites, we'll start a conversation with you about it before your account closes, so there's time to sort it out together. You have two options: transfer it to another registrar so you keep it after you leave, or do nothing and let the registration expire naturally once it's no longer being renewed. Either is fine, it's yours either way, and we won't touch it without hearing from you.
We take care of transfers by hand rather than as a self-serve step, so if you'd like one, just reply in that conversation (or get in touch any time) and we'll walk you through it.
This only comes up if you leave ArtSites altogether. Moving to Basic and going offline both keep your web address exactly as it is.

What cancelling never does
- It never deletes your work. Moving to Basic and going offline both keep every artwork, page, and image exactly as it is, and you can keep editing them
- It never charges you again. Your Pro plan runs to the end of the period you have already paid for, and then stops
- It is never hidden, and it is never harder than signing up
If you started leaving and changed your mind
Go back to Plan and click Stop this and bring everything back. Everything returns exactly as it was. You can do this on any day inside the 30 days, and so can anyone else attached to your profile.
